OCLC (TM) Online Computer Library Center Incorporated, founded in 1967 and based in Dublin, Ohio, is a nonprofit, membership organization that provides over 60,000 libraries in 112 countries with network-based information access services. Member libraries employ the group's computer network to locate, acquire, catalog, lend, and preserve materials. The firm provides clients with bibliographic, abstract, and full-text records. OCLC Online Computer Library Center and member libraries produce and maintain the WorldCat OCLC Online Union Catalog. WorldCat contains tens of millions of bibliographic records, representing one billion items. The database also catalogs digital resources. The WorldCat platform also allows Internet search engine users, employing standard browsers, to access library catalog records. OCLC Online Computer Library Center also is known for its NetLibrary full-text electronic book and audio book, Catalog of Art Museum Images Online (CAMIO), Connexion cataloging, FirstSearch online reference, and QuestionPoint virtual reference products and services. OCLC Online Computer Library Center also provides students and library professionals with awards, scholarships, and fellowships. The organization publishes the 'NextSpace' newsletter. The group's website includes news article, RSS feed, and podcast features. OCLC Online Computer Library Center was launched as the Ohio College Library Center (OCLC) in 1967. The organization was established by, and in support of, 54 colleges and universities across Ohio. In 1977, the organization extended its services to libraries outside of the Ohio. In the same year, it changed its name to OCLC Incorporated. In 1981, the organization acquired its current name.
